MUSICAL INFLUENCES
Most Namibian musicians gain their first musical experiences in church choirs, as music was and is hardly taught in schools.
During the 1950’s musicians in Namibia often played music by just hearing and feeling it because they had no knowledge of reading music.
But they eventually paved the way and maintained the music industry. They have managed to keep the cultural identity alive regardless of the challenges.
Some Namibian music has been influenced by Black South African music.
Through music, the artists spread love, joy, peace, unity and hope before, during and after the liberation struggle – that is the struggle for independence.
Namibian music is a fusion of old, young, traditional and contemporary, reggae styles with many more musical vibes.

OUR ADVISOR
I am Edna Awaras, I met my wonderful friend Banza through our children who are going to the same school.
When Banza introduced me to Global New Generation (GNG), I was very intrigued by the website and how multinational it is. I met Sonja, the founder of GNG, at Banza’s birthday and later started being involved in GNG’s activities.
