NAMIKA, also known as Hän Violett, was born on 23 August 1991 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Her real name is Hanan Hamdi born. 

NAMIKA is a German singer and rapper with  Moroccan roots, whose music is lyrically and musically oriented towards the German hip-hop scene. She became known to a wider audience in 2015 with her number one hit Lieblingsmensch.

Namika grew up in the Goldstein housing estate in the Schwanheim district of Frankfurt. Her maternal grandparents came from the Moroccan coastal town of Nador and arrived in Germany in the early 1970s.

On 21 July 2015, she presented her debut album Nador. It also contains the first single Lieblingsmensch. The second single Hellwach was released on 28 August 2015.

Namika participated in the Bundesvision Song Contest on 29 August 2015. She competed for the state of Hesse with a version of her song Hellwach specially edited for the contest and reached seventh place. The reworked version of Hellwach is included in the Hellwach EP, which also includes four other new songs. The track was produced by the German production team Beatgees, who had previously produced music for Lena, Curse and Ann Sophie.

On 9 October 2015, Namika entered three songs in the New Music Award music competition. The contest is considered the largest national competition for young musicians in Germany. The event is organised by the nine young radio stations of the ARD, including the station You FM from Hessischer Rundfunk, for which Namika competed. The third single from her album Nador, Kompliziert, was released on 5 February 2016. On 18 March 2016, the TV channel Kika named 14-year-old Leontina Songwriter of the Year in the programme Dein Song 2016 . Namika took part in the programme as her musicical mentor and sang alongside Leontina in the winning song Wie Sand.

Namika was part of the German jury at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 and was thus jointly responsible for 50 percent of the German points awarded in the 2nd semi-final as well as the final.

On 29 March 2018, Namika announced her second studio album Que Walou. Two singles were released that day, including the album’s main track Que Walou and Ahmed (1960-2002). On 13 April 2018, the third single Je ne parle pas français was released. Two remixes of the singles were produced by Beatgees, including one with French rapper Black M. The single remix reached number 1 in the German charts. The fourth single Ich will dich vermissen was released on 18 May, and the fifth single Zirkus was released on 31 May. On 1 June 2018, the album Que Walou was presented.
