WHO IS MANUEL NEUER ?
Manuel Neuer was born on 27 March 1986 in Gelsenkirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia).
Manuel Neuer is a German football player. He currently plays for FC Bayern Munich and in the German national football team as a goalkeeper. In both teams he is captain, i.e. the player who is in charge on the field and substitutes for the coach. He is one of the most famous football players in Germany.
COMMITMENT FOR CHILDREN
He behaves very exemplary in public and always takes a lot of time for his fans. Manuel Neuer is a Catholic and likes to get involved in good causes. In 2010, he founded his own foundation, the ” Manuel Neuer Kids Foundation”, with which he campaigns against child poverty in Germany. He likes to ride his bike and Vespa, for example on his way to training sessions. He has also been a passionate tennis player since childhood.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Manuel Neuer was born in 1986 in Gelsenkirchen, the son of a policeman. He began playing for the local club, FC Schalke 04, as a young boy. He played in the Schalke youth teams and, from 2005, with the professionals. He made his first Bundesliga appearance in August 2006, when he was just 20 years old. Soon after, he became Schalke’s first goalkeeper and played regularly. That is rare for a goalkeeper his age.
In 2011, Manuel Neuer moved to FC Bayern. With Bayern, he won the German championship title, the DFB Cup and even the Champions League several times.
Years later, he became World Champion with the German national team.
Since then, at the latest, he has been considered the best goalkeeper in the world. He was named world goalkeeper four times, most recently in 2016, and in 2011 and 2014 he was Germany’s best footballer of the year. Incidentally, his sporting idols are Jens Lehmann and Edwin van der Sar.
